Windsor Hotel Wedding Photography
14th February 2013
As a Melbourne Photographer, Andrea has always wanted to photograph the renowned Windsor Hotel, a Melbourne landmark located in Spring Street.
On an unseasonably cold and wet day in February she got her wish. The occasion was the Melbourne Registry Wedding of Ainsley and Adrian.
Choosing to get married at the Melbourne Registry Office often has to do with a desire to break away from tradition. It was definitely the case for our couple.
The Bride and Groom preparation took place at the same time in the same room at the Windsor Hotel.
The bride’s choice of dress was quite different. She wore a cocktail dress in a striking shade of yellow green. The overall effect was more 1920’s cocktail party than wedding. The groom wore a pinstripe suit.
It made for some unusual Bridal Photography.
Seeing our couple walking down the Windsor Hotel staircase reinforced that feeling of travelling back in time.
We crossed the road to reach the Melbourne Registry Office to photograph the wedding, celebrated with an intimate ceremony with our couple’s close family.
After our couple tied the knot we went outside for the formal family portraits on the steps of the Melbourne Registry Office. The weather turned on us and it started to rain.
The whole party took refuge in the couple’s room at the Windsor Hotel, where we took a fun group shot of all the guests on the couple’s bed. When the rain cleared we went outside for a few more photos.
Our couple did not want formal wedding photography but decided for a more fun style of photography. We were happy to oblige.
We got on the old Melbourne Circle Tram and photographed our couple kissing while the whole tram cheered them on and we got a few cute shots of them posing as they got off the tram.
The whole party followed the couple into Federici Cafe for more photos. We love especially a photograph we took in the gallery that connects Federici to the Princess Theatre.
We strolled along Spring Street and ended up at The Cricketers Arms for a few drinks. We left the guests there and took the couple back to the Windsor Hotel for a few more photographs in the old world ambience of its corridors. It was such a fun day and we produced some of our favourite Melbourne Registry Office Wedding Photography that day.
