Wedding Photography in Melbourne – Spring style! Anita and Peter’s Melbourne CBD wedding

30th October 2011

In typical Melbourne fashion we are experiencing another weekend of alternating weather patterns. We watched with bated breath as the skies opened up on Friday and released a serious downpour – the weather bureau tipping more of the same for the Saturday. Happily though the clouds departed and we were left with what can only be described as one of the most delightful days for the season so far. Perfect weather for the marriage of Anita and Peter.

Married at the charming bluestone church, St Brigid’s on Nicholson Street, Fitzroy North in an elegant afternoon ceremony, this lovely couple celebrated their union with their many family and friends. Events started in fine style as the bridal parties arrived in fabulous wedding cars. Anita and her girls in Metallic Hot Rods – Pete and the boys in Mustangs.

The weather may have been behaving itself but the winds had other ideas! Peter found himself not only a newly married man but the caretaker of a fly away veil – making for great photos though!

With the ceremony finished and the family photos taken care of, we joined the ‘cool car convoy’ and made our way to the city for a fun photo shoot. First stop being the Melbourne Museum/Carlton Gardens precinct. That bright star in our skies was shining so strongly we had to make our way to the shade but it was so delightful to feel its warm rays after so many cold days this year.

Next stop being the renowned Hosier Lane – a location I’ve visited many times (both as a photographer and a diner at Movida!). As the sun was setting we finished our photo session with a quick visit to Federation Square (via Chapter House Lane). Being a fan of architecture, I love to incorporate structures in my work and am very pleased we were able to combine the modern and the historic buildings into the shoot. I am anticipating very dynamic wedding photos!

To the reception, which we had been looking forward to for quite some time. The Melbourne Aquarium! A fantastic location – the beautiful Coral Atoll room looks onto the banks of the Yarra which allows a perfect view of the Crown Casino flames on the hour. The feature of this room is the magnificent tank which houses a vast selection of the weird and the wonderful, colourful and cute tropical creatures. Absolutely fascinating and a perfect backdrop to a wonderful reception.
